Teacher Tips

  • Keep the bread in a place that isn't out in the open but in a place you won't forget about it.
  • Keep a detailed observation of how the bread felt.
  • When your finished with the project don't throw the bread away in the garbage can that you regularly use, I would recommend the dumpster outside.
  • Seal the bag completely shut or eventually the smell of the bread will escape the bread and where you store the bread will stink.
  • When handling the bread while observing wash your hands directly after even when the sandwich bag is what you are touching.
  • Keep the bread in a sandwich baggie.
  • DO NOT EAT!

Questions

  • How many more days do you think it will take until the entire wheat bread is covered in mold?
  • Does the brand of wheat and white bread matter in how quick or slow the molding process takes?  Explain.
  • Do you think bread that is more expensive mold at a faster or slower pace?
  • Would placing my bread to mold in a dark place or a lighted place matter in the molding process?  Explain your thinking process.
